Speedworks Motorsport’s Tom Ingram found himself top of the pile with a brace of podium finishes in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.

The Cheshire outfit’s driver failed to finish race one, which left the Toyota Avensis racer 27th on the grid for race two.

But in drying conditions the former Ginetta champion scythed his way through the pack to take third place at the flag, just 0.042secs ahead of the works’ Honda Civic of Dan Cammish.

Race three was a one-off affair dubbed the ‘Diamond-Double’ as the BTCC is celebrating it’s 60th anniversary this year and, as part of the celebration, race three was run over 60 miles, roughly double the usual race distance for a British Touring Car race, and Ingram put the Avensis fourth on the grid for the 20-lap encounter.

Ingram grabbed third place on the opening lap and despite stiff opposition and a brief safety-car period, that’s where he would finish at the flag.

And with double points on offer, Ingram climbed back to the top of the BTCC standings.

He currently leads the overall and Independents standings, while Speedworks sit top the Independent Teams championship, as the series’ heads for Rockingham in Northamptonshire over the weekend of the August 11-12.
