Are you the fastest runner in Manchester ?

Great Manchester Run 2016

The search is on to find the fastest runners in Greater Manchester.

The challenge has been launched by organisers of the Great Manchester Run to add to the fun of the big 10k event on Sunday, May 22.

Runners from across the host city have entered in droves with entries flooding in each day.

Organisers The Great Run Company are staging a ‘race within a race’ to find the top male and female finishers from each area who will each win an engraved plaque and free entry for the 2017 event.

With two months to go to the big day, Stockport leads the way with an impressive 1,668 entries. Salford has 979 runners; Altrincham 518; Didsbury and Withington 457; Oldham 539; Sale 379; Chorlton 251; Rochdale 222; Urmston, Davyhulme and Flixton 211; Denton and Audenshaw 158.

The winners will be determined from entries from post codes within the respective areas. In addition, the average finish time of all runners from each north west area will also be worked out to find out the fastest town.

First staged in 2003, this year will see the 300,000th runner cross the finish line in Manchester’s Greatest Run.
