Radio broadcaster Phil Trow is buzzing to be part of this year’s Manchester Midnight Walk.
The BBC Radio Manchester presenter will be hosting the main stage at this year’s Manchester Bee-themed fundraising event in aid of St Ann’s Hospice – and is hoping as many local people as possible will join him.
He said: “Every year more than 1,000 people gather together at Manchester Cathedral to take part in the Midnight Walk to raise money for St Ann’s.
“It’s always such an amazing event and I’m really looking forward to hosting the stage for the pre-walk entertainment again this year.
“Participants very often wear fancy dress on the night, and this year the hospice is encouraging people to embrace the Manchester bee theme – the Midnight Walk’s colours are yellow and black so it fits in perfectly.
“Don’t worry if you don’t like fancy dress though, please do sign up and come along and say hello anyway. The more the merrier, and it’s all in aid of a fantastic local cause.”
The Manchester Midnight Walk, which will take place on Friday, April 26, has become a staple on the city’s fundraising calendar, with last year’s event raising £163,795 for St Ann’s, bringing the total raised since its launch to more than £2m.
The event has pulled in the crowds every year since it began in 2007, creating a unique late-night party atmosphere.
Phil added: “Every year at the walk I am reminded how amazing the people in our great city are. Standing on the stage at Manchester Cathedral watching everyone set off at midnight is always very exciting, but is also quite emotional when you think that many are raising money for someone special.
Hospices make such a difference to the lives of patients and their loved ones, and being part of an event which helps them to raise money to fund their vital work is amazing.”
