Beechwood Butterfly Ball raises thousands of pounds for Stockport charity

Guests at the Beechwood Butterfly Ball

More than 400 people attended this year’s Beechwood Butterfly Ball – raising thousands of pounds for its patients.

The event at The Principal Manchester, which included music from singer Michael Moore, The Diane Shaw Band and young singer Emma Halpin, raises money each year for Stockport-based charity.

Beechwood Cancer Care Centre supports people who are living with cancer and other illnesses as well as helping people through traumatic events in their lives – from individuals, children and young people, their families and carers, with counselling sessions, complimentary therapies and group workshops.

Money is still coming in from the event, which was sponsored by Brown Shipley, Eventures, Didsbury Magazine and Pareto FP, and it is hoped the fundraising will meet last year’s £40,000 target.

Angela Gray, fundraising manager for Beechwood, said: “The Butterfly Ball was such a fantastic night.

“Everyone enjoyed some great food and danced the night away, while also supporting a charity that helps people across Greater Manchester through difficult times in their lives.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters and sponsors.

“It has been a difficult year – particularly with the attack at Manchester Arena – and we are now supporting a lot of families who were affected, so the continued support of Beechwood is vital not only for our cancer patients but also those who are using our family therapy centre and other services as well.”
