Beechwood Cancer Care Centre’s Heald Green shop has re-opened following two burglaries.

Thieves broke into the shop on Finney Lane in April, stealing stock and ransacking the shop. It was the second time the shop was burgled inside a month.

Stockport firm Pride Planning stepped in to provide new shutters and an alarm system.

Angela Gray, Beechwood’s fundraising manager, said: “We are so grateful to Pride Planning for donating so much to us.

“We were really upset by the break-in. Now, with our amazing shutters in place, it makes the shop look better and also gives us extra security.”

Pride Planning, based at National House on Wellington Road North in Heaton Norris, provides pe-paid funeral plans.

Adam Deering, director of Pride Planning, said: “When we heard about the break-in we knew we wanted to help.

“Beechwood is an incredible charity and we intend on supporting them for a long time.”

The shop will have a re-opening event on June 28.
