Beechwood supporters were among the runners at this year’s Great Manchester Run – in what marked an emotional week for the city.
The Great Manchester Run saw a total of 40,000 competitors hit the road on Sunday, May 28, for the usual 10km run and the new half-marathon.
The fastest male runner for Team Beechwood in the 10k challenge was Joseph Tolson in a time of 42 minutes and 53 seconds and the fastest female Carla Cooke in 54:10.
For the half-marathon, it was Paul Nutter was quickest in an hour and 26 minutes and Keren Nowak in one hour and 46 minutes.
The Great Manchester Run came at the end of the week that saw the tragic terror attack at the Manchester Arena that took 22 lives and injured dozens more.
Angela Gray, fundraising manager at Beechwood, said: “The Great Manchester Run is always a wonderful day, but this year it was emotional and amazing at the same time following the tragic incident at the beginning of the week.
“It was a totally inspirational day, a fantastic atmosphere and great support. I would like to say a huge thank you to Team Beechood and everyone who came out to support the runners.
“Following the run, we laid a bouquet of yellow ribbons in St Ann’s Square on behalf of Beechwood for those who lost their lives.
“I would also like to remind anyone who needs support with how to deal with what has happened in our city to get in touch for free family counselling.”
