Berry over twice in Heaton Moor Junior Colts win over West Leeds

Dom Rafferty passes away for Heaton Moor

Bob Berry scored two tries as Heaton Moor Junior Colts beat West Leeds 17-12.

It was the Leeds outfit who came out the blocks quicker by opening up a 5-0 advantage with a wind advantage at Green Lane.

They should have extended the lead before Heaton Moor got to grips with their lively opponents.

After 20 minutes Shane Ennis made a fantastic break off the back of a solid scrum before offloading to Finn Blakeborough, who touched down to level the scores.

Five minutes later, the Yorkshire side regained the advantage with a brilliant try which was converted to leave them in front at the break by 12-5.

The second half saw a much-improved display from the Stockport lads, the pack continually foraging, breaking down Leeds at every set-piece, Max Savage in particular catching the eye, driving his team forward.

Berry got Moor to within two points with an excellent try after some great pressure by his forwards ten minutes into the second half.

And this forward dominance reaped a huge dividend when Berry got his second score five minutes later, Nick Tenney with a pinpoint conversion giving them a five-point lead which they would hold until the end.

Heaton Moor close their Conference League season with a visit from leaders Altrincham Kersal on Saturday.
