Bowdon Lawn Tennis Club has won the under-eight Aegon Winter League County Cup – beating a team from the same club in the final.

Bowdon’s Team Nadal claimed a 12-4 victory over the club’s Team Federer in the final.

Team Nadal was made up of Matthew Hopley, Zach Thompson, Sebby Hooton and Andreas Stylianides, while the Team Federer players were Sam Kilvert, Susannah Thompson, Joe Spencer and Jake Davies.

Noah Leary, Harry Matthews and Eva Senior also played an integral role in the success of both teams during the season.

Emma Silcock, head coach at the Elcho Road club, said:  “Both teams played with courage and determination.

“Every player conjured up performances worthy of a young Andy Murray or Johanna Konta.

“I feel immensely privileged to have coached such committed children for many years – this is just the beginning for our young players.”
