Bury Senior Colts 6-27 Heaton Moor Junior Colts

James Molloy scored a hat-trick of tries as Heaton Moor Junior Colts made the short trip to Bury to play their elder opponents.

Moor started with a full ‘juniors’ compliment with senior colts Ollie Burns at scrum-half, Sam Goodwin on the wing and tough-tackling Dan Grant in the back row all entering the fray for the second period.

The Moor lads made light of ‘elder’ opponents in a confident display with the impressive centre partnership of Joe Kilbride and James Molloy creating a platform for the young Stockport lads to dominate the first half, Molloy scoring two tries added to an Evan Coffey score.

Bury responded with a solitary penalty to leave Moor 17-3 ahead at half-time.

The second half followed a similar pattern, Grant especially impressive with some big tackles, ably assisted by Goodwin on the wing and Burns at scrum-half.

Molloy completed his hat-trick in his first game back after two weeks out with a hand injury to put the gloss on a very impressive outing.

Will Smith added a fifth try with Bury settling for a consolation penalty.

Next on the agenda is a trip to Blackburn next week where Heaton Moor Junior Colts will look to extend their winning run.

Heaton Moor: Tries – J Molloy (3), E Coffey, W Smith; Conversions: N Tenney
