A charity concert has raised almost £900 for Stockport Foodbank.

The Winter Warmer concert performed by the Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band at Hazel Grove Baptist Church raised £890.

Stockport Foodbank is based at five locations – Hazel Grove Baptist Church, St Mark’s in Bredbury, St Martin’s near Crescent Park, the Bairstow Centre in Reddish and Trinity Church, Cheadle.

Nigel Tedford, Project Manager at Stockport Foodbank, said: “We were absolutely delighted to have the support of the Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band.

“Not only was it marvellous to see so many music lovers supporting us, but also the willingness of the band and its members to give their time to help raise funds for Stockport Foodbank was brilliant.

“Our thanks go to everyone who was involved and supported us in so many ways – the evening was a winner.”

The money raised will be used to buy essential food and hygiene items.

Vernon Building Society chief executive Steve Fletcher said: “As Stockport’s building society for 93 years, the Vernon takes pride in supporting the local organisations that are so important to both our members and the communities in which we serve.”
