St Ann’s Hospice is holding a sister event to its Manchester Midnight Walk for children this October.

Parade in the Park is a 1km sponsored walk for children and families to allow them to remember someone special.

The event takes place on Sunday, October 14, at Parr Fold Park in Walkden, Salford, from 10am and is open to children of all ages.

Fran Schofield, event organiser at St Ann’s, said “Our Manchester Midnight Walk is such a popular event every year, with hundreds of supporters taking part in the 10km sponsored walk.

“However, that event is for people over the age of eleven, and we had lots of feedback that families would like to do something similar with their younger children.

“Last year we held the event for the first time and we were thrilled to see so many families turn out to help us raise money for the local patients we care for.

“Many of the children who took part in the parades were walking to remember someone special, and it was amazing to see everyone joining together for such a positive reason.”

There will be lots of activities and entertainment to keep the little ones happy and busy, and on the walk itself there will be lots of surprises.

“There will also be a memory area, where participants can tie a ribbon with a message to a loved one if they chose to do so. Fancy dress is encouraged for children and adults alike.

The event costs £7 for every child to take part, or for groups with three or more children it’s £5 per child, while adults go free.
