Cheshire Football League: Poynton’s run ended by Malpas

The week’s biggest Hallmark Security Cheshire Football League news came with a Malpas victory over Poynton.

Not only was the result a shock from looking at the league table, but the result sees Poynton’s impressive unbeaten run come to an end before it could reach 20 games unbeaten.

Malpas won 4-3, however the game doesn’t change either side’s Premier Division league position.

All seven other games in the Premier Division were postponed.

Billinge are the new leaders of Division One following their 2-1 victory away at Middlewich Town.

The victory moves Billinge up to 45 points, two clear of both Warrington and Pilkington below.

Grappenhall Sports remain bottom following their 2-0 loss at home to Golborne Sports. Goals from Josh Taffe and Joe Winstanley gave Golborne their third win of 2017.

Daten won their game this weekend with a 2-0 victory at home to Mersey Valley. The home side now sit within two wins of fourth place, despite sitting in tenth. The Atoms won through goals from Anthony Davies and Ross Dryden.

All other Division One games were postponed.

In Division Two, Broadheath Central drew 3-3 with Winstanley Warriors. Central move to the top of the table as a result of the game, level on points with Windle Labour who have now dropped to second.

A man-of-the-match performance from Will Adred gave Unicorn Athletic a 7-0 victory in Flixton as they hosted Cuddington.

Goals from Stewart, Coffin, McLeavy (2) and Hendley (2) plus an own goal from the Cuddington ‘keeper mean that Unicorn move up to fourth.

All other Division Two games, as well as all Reserve Division games, were postponed.
