The Amazon team in Manchester has donated £1,000 to a charity based in Wythenshawe in Manchester.

The Community Grocery is a low-cost food shop in Wythenshawe and is a branch of The Message Trust charity located in Sharston.

The charity operates on an annual £5 membership system which gives customers the access to a weekly shop with subsidised food prices. The charity also offers career advice, mental wellbeing courses and computer literacy courses.

Imani Change, Site Leader at Amazon in Manchester, said: “We are pleased to support the Community Grocery as it offers families an opportunity to get a weekly shop at a price they can afford.

“The staff and volunteers at the charity do incredibly important work in our community and we’re pleased to support their efforts.”

The charity received the donation as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Sam Hawthorne, from The Community Grocery added: “We rely on donations for our food and products in the shop, so we appreciate this contribution from Amazon.

“On behalf of The Community Grocery, I would like to thank Imani and her team for choosing to donate to our charity.”
