Motorsport Vision Racing (MSVR) hosted four-wheel action at Oulton Park in Cheshire with Friday’s heavy rain moving away, leaving a warm cloudy day at the parkland track.

The main event of the day was the MSVR GT Cup, while there were also races for the Monoposto, SSangYong Pickups and Lotus Elise categories.

The first of two GT Cup races was a single driver event over 25 minutes. Pole position was taken by Jake Rattenbury (Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo) from Mike Brown (Aston Martin GT3).

On the second row were Gareth Downing (Mosler) and Graham Davidson (McLaren MP4/12 GT3).

Rattenbury led the rolling start from Downing and Davidson, and the order was maintained until lap four when Rattenbury slowed momentarily allowing Downing and Davidson through.

Rattenbury held on to third place, and this was the order until the final lap when the Downing car failed on circuit with electrical problems handing the win to Davidson from Rattenbury and Nigel Hudson (Aston Martin GT3).

Race two was over 50 minutes for one or two drivers. Downing starting from pole with Davidson next to him on the grid. On the second row were Rattenbury and Hudson.

At the rolling start Davidson took the lead from Downing, Hudson and Rattenbury.

Ten minutes in Downing was relegated to fourth. A short safety car period after 15 minutes closed the field but there was no change in the positions at the restart. Downing gradually fell back and was passed for fourth by Mike Brown in the Aston.

Davidson, who was in the lead after the compulsory pit stops, was given a stop/go penalty for too short a pit stop.

This left Manderson, who had taken over from Brown in the Aston, in the lead from Davidson, Rattenbury and Alan Wilcox, who had taken over from Hudson.

Davidson passed Manderson with two minutes to go to take the lead and the win from Manderson, Wilcox and Rattenbury.

Richard Purcell, from Stockport, grabbed a sixth place at Oulton Park (www.mphotographic.co.uk)
