BBC Radio Manchester broadcaster Phil Trow and the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, will be taking part in a very special event this October in aid of St Ann’s Hospice.
The pair will be joining local dog lovers at the Paws Spooktacular event which will be taking place in Wythenshawe Park on Saturday, October 29.
The 3km sponsored dog walk event, which is suitable for dogs and owners of all shapes and sizes, will see local people and their canine friends gathered together to raise money for the charity, which needs to raise around £16,000 every day to keep providing its services to local patients.
As well as taking part in the walk, participants in the event will be invited to enter their dogs into one of the special competition categories and the Lord Mayor of Manchester will be crowning the best dressed, best rescue, golden oldie, best girl and best boy dogs from those taking part.
The event will open at 10am with the dog walk starting at 1pm.
Eamonn O’Neal, Chief Executive of St Ann’s Hospice, said: “As a charity right in the heart of the local communities we support, events like this one are a great way for us to raise money whilst also giving local families a fantastic day out.
“We’re really looking forward to everyone joining us in support of St Ann’s, and are hoping each dog sponsored to take part in the event raises as much money as possible for the hospice.
“Every penny raised really will make a difference to the local people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses that we support.”
