Epic ride raises over £2,000 for Seashell Trust

A planning consultant saddled up to take on the Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge to raise money for Cheadle Hulme charity Seashell Trust.

Nick Lee, who is managing director of south Manchester-based NJL Consulting, took part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain.

He was sponsored £2,195 to cycle the length of the UK, some 970 miles with a punishing 19,000 metres of ascent, over nine days.

Nick said: “There is simply nothing else like Seashell Trust in the UK. It is the main provider of education to some of the most vulnerable young people in our society.

“They are dedicated to providing a creative, happy and secure environment for children and adults with complex and severe learning disabilities which include little or no language abilities.

“The children need exceptional care by exceptional people and rely significantly on charitable donations to operate. We have got to know the organisation very well and want to help them in their longer term ambitions.

“I’m pleased to say we got around £2,000 donated. This was twice what we thought given the usual pressure of donor fatigue.”

Dominic Tinner, from Seashell Trust, said: “This is a real feat of endurance. We are so very grateful to Nick for all the pain and soreness he went through to raise these funds.”
