Empowered Conversations trainer Emma Smith with previous participants

Free dementia communication courses will be held in Trafford to support family and friends of a person living with the disease.

The Empowered Conversations course, which is run by Salford social enterprise Six Degrees takes a different approach to communication in dementia care that is designed to help people living with dementia and their carers to find ways to stay connected, handle emotional stress and navigate the day together.

Empowered Conversations trainer Emma Smith said: “If you’re a friend, relative or carer of a person living with dementia, this free dementia communications training gives you time to pause, reflect and find new ways to reconnect with loved ones with dementia.

“The course has been really popular and we would love to be able to support more people in Trafford – so please get in touch.”

The full course is four sessions that will be held from 12.30pm-3pm on four Thursdays – May 31, June 7, 14, 21 – at Broomwood Community Wellbeing Centre, Mainwood Road, Timperley (WA15 7JU), and at the St John’s Centre, St John’s Road, Old Trafford, Manchester (M16 7GX) between 10am and 12.30pm on Fridays – June 1, 8, 15, 22.
