Get your affairs in order this March for St Ann’s Hospice

St Ann’s Hospice is calling on people to get their affairs in order this March and help raise vital funds to support patients across Greater Manchester.

The St Ann’s Hospice Will Week is an annual campaign, which sees dozens of  solicitors giving their time for free to help people make their will.

Instead of charging their usual fee, they are suggesting supporters make a donation to St Ann’s Hospice.

Francesca Breakspear is a solicitor at Cheshire mosshaselhurst, who are regular supporters of the campaign.

She said: “Working as a solicitor I see first-hand the impact of getting your personal affairs in order.

“Something as simple as making a will can really provide peace of mind.

“By making a will you can chose who will administer your estate, who will be the guardians for any minor children, you can specify funeral wishes and also who is to receive your estate when you do pass away.

“Knowing that your wishes will be carried out is so important, no matter what your stage of life or situation.

“Lots of people are concerned about how much work might be involved in making a will, but it’s actually a really easy process and as solicitors, we’re here to help and guide you through the different stages and paperwork.

“St Ann’s Will Week is a really good time for you to make your will, as you’ll be benefitting a fantastic local charity, as well as yourself.

“Myself and all the other local solicitors involved are waiving our usual fees, and asking you to make a donation to St Ann’s instead.

“I choose to support St Ann’s in this way because my Nan was a patient there. The staff were absolutely amazing, from the care that she received but also the support that they offered to us as family.

“I have also taken part in other fundraising activities that have been run by the hospice, such as the Manchester Midnight Walk.”

The St Ann’s Hospice Will Week is from March 12 to 16. To take part or for information, please call the hospice on 0161 498 3631 or visit www.sah.org.uk/willweek

Betfred backs Manchester Midnight Walk

Betfred has been announced as the headline sponsor for this year’s Manchester Midnight Walk event in aid of St Ann’s Hospice.

Thousands of people will be hitting the city streets for the charity’s flagship fundraising event on Friday, April 27, which comprises a night of fun and entertainment, culminating in the 10km sponsored moonlit stroll.

Eamonn O’Neal, Chief Executive of St Ann’s, explained: “We’re a charity and need to raise thousands of pounds every day to ensure we can continue to provide care to our patients and their families from our three sites and range of community and outreach services.

“We can only continue to do so thanks to the generosity of local people, and we’re incredibly thankful to Betfred for agreeing to be our headline sponsor for this year’s Manchester Midnight Walk. It means that we can hopefully raise as much money as possible on the night to help the people St Ann’s cares for.

To register please call the hospice on 0161 498 3631 or visit www.mmwalk.org.uk.
