One-liners on show at Heatons comedy night

Chris Turner

The problem with modern comedy for many is that it tends to revolve around long, protracted stories and ‘gags’ seem to be a thing of the past.

With this in mind, April’s Heatons Comedy Evening features two of the finest one-liner merchants around.

Many men dream of a career as a pro snooker player and Sean Meo was highly respected by his peers.

Then he decided to give stand up comedy a go and snooker soon took a back seat. A former Time Out Comedian Of The Year, Sean has appeared at the Kilkenny, Cork and Montreal Comedy Festivals

Sale’s Chris Turner’s sharply written gags, assured stage presence and commanding delivery have established him as a formidable one-liner comic.

Intelligent wordplay and deliciously dark jokes nestle amongst a set rich with puns and oblique observations, all coupled with a talent for improvisation and physical comedy.

To add to the local flavour, Stockport’s very own Alex Boardman is compere for the evening and middle act is Jay Islaam.

The show at the Heatons Sports Club starts at 7.45pm prompt.

Tickets are £7.50 from the venue, online or pay on the door.
