Macclesfield athlete Ollie Davies has picked up a hat-trick of gold medals in The Association of Junior Independent School’s North-West Athletics Championships.
Back in September, competing against over 100 competitors, the cream of young talent drawn from schools from Cumbria to the Welsh Borders, the 10-year-old King’s School pupil from Tytherington won the cross-country event held in Fleetwood.
He has now won the 150m sprint and the high jump at the AJIS Athletics Championships in Blackpool.

A gifted all-round sportsman, Ollie is also King’s School juniors’ fly-half for the rugby team, the midfield playmaker in the football team, a fast bowler for the cricket team and top swimmer in local galas.
He said: “I do practise my running and often run around the Tytherington estate but I was surprised to win the high jump, because I have hardly practised that at all.”
Deborah Baker, King’s School junior division head of sport said: “ The three AJIS titles are a major achievement but he also shows excellent potential in cricket and rugby and has been a great asset to all our teams including swimming and football too.
“He competes with a quiet, unassuming, low key confidence and yet is an extremely talented sportsman. Quite simply he is a shining star.”
