Kro hosts pop-up bar and music at Manchester United match

Prose

The owners of Kro Bar are setting up a live music venue for football fans going to Manchester United’s home match against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Kro is taking over part of a disused warehouse near Old Trafford Metrolink station for the pop-up venue, which will serve drinks and food from 11am until 8pm on Sunday.

Entertainment will be provided by up-and-coming Manchester band Prose, along with DJ Jay Ellis.

Prose are a rap/acoustic band made up of cousins Mike Murray and Dave Stone, and guitarist Lee Royle.

They first played live in 2014 and their debut single What If? was released by Virgin Records in October 2015.

Earlier this year, they released their first album, called Home of the Brave.

The pop-up site on Warwick Road South, just a few yards from the Metrolink station, will have security staff on duty as well as toilet facilities.

Kro boss Mark Ruby said: “We’ve successfully run pop-up bars at other events and think there is a real opportunity to provide entertainment as well as drinks and food to fans attending matches at Old Trafford.

“It should be a great atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

“This is the first of what we hope will become a regular event on match days.

“It’s also a great opportunity to showcase emerging Manchester bands to a wider audience.”

The entertainment has been arranged by Manchester independent music label Concrete Recordings.
