There was a licence to thrill at the Lady Barn House School Bond-themed dinner at Mere Country Club.

Nobody does it better as parents and staff at the north’s largest independent preparatory school based in Cheadle, Stockport, with some 485 pupils, raised £10,000.

With Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon and Adele providing a fitting musical backdrop there were guest appearances from heroes, heroines and villains alike as the  school brought their fundraising to £20,000 for the year.

Special guest was TV property expert Melissa Porter.

Organiser Claire Firth said: “The theme allowed the girls to be gorgeous and glamorous and the boys to be cool and mysterious and was enjoyed by all as we danced until sky fall.”

Fellow organiser Cath Greenwood added: “The funds will be used for outdoor learning, new IT equipment and challenging puzzles and games for the children.”

Lady Barn House School headteacher Sheila Marsh said: “It was a wonderful night that brought the Lady Barn family together.

“We are blessed with wonderful support from our parents.”
