Man in hospital after shooting in Stockport

A man is in hospital in a serious but stable condition after being shot in Stockport.

Police were called to reports of a gun being fired on Hollyhouse Drive, Woodley, at around 7.15pm on Monday, February 3rd.

Emergency services attended and a man in his 40s was taken to hospital with gunshot injuries to his legs.

Police are treating the shooting as an isolated incident and no arrests have been made.

Detecive Inspector Darren Scar, from Stockport police, said: “Thankfully the man is responding well to treatment. Our thoughts remain with him as he continues his recovery.

“While this incident happened after dark, it occurred in a well-populated residential street in the early evening and we therefore expect people will be able to assist our investigations.

“We are currently treating this as an isolated incident and we don’t believe there is any wider threat to the community.

“People in the area will notice an increased police presence as we continue our investigations over the coming days. I’d encourage anyone with concerns to speak to our officers.”
