Manchester Grammar School youngster called up for England badminton squad

A badminton ace from The Manchester Grammar School is celebrating after being selected for the England Under-15s squad.

Cholan Kayan, 13, from Sale, has been playing badminton since he was seven and trains with the North West Badminton Academy.

Last week, he was delighted to find out he has been selected for the England Under-15s squad who will compete in the 8 Nations Championships, to be held in Belgium later this year.

Cholan said: “I am delighted to have been called up to the England squad. I only found out when I logged onto the Badminton England website and saw my name, so I’m really pleased to have been selected.”

Director of Sport at MGS, Mark Walmsley, said: “Everyone at MGS is so proud of Cholan. He is a really talented badminton player and we wish him every success for the championships.”
