Manchester Storm causes chaos – but Macclesfield Town show they have a sense of humour

The Moss Rose pitch under water after the Manchester Storm (Macc Town Facebook)

The Manchester Storm caused brought chaos across south Manchester on Tuesday night, hitting transport links and the forcing the postponement of Manchester City’s Champions League match with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Metrolink services were brought to a standstill, while matches at Stockport County and Macclesfield Town were postponed and the game between Stockport Town and Ashton Town was abandoned after kick-off

There are eight flood warnings in place for Greater Manchester including Cheadle, Fallowfield and Chorlton following last night’s storms.

But at least Macc Town had a laugh at themselves – posting a picture of a sunny forecast on their Facebook page in the afternoon followed by the message ‘Match Postponed. That escalated quickly’ a few hours later.

The club later posted a picture of the Moss Rose pitch under water.

Stockport County also posted a video of their Edgeley Park pitch under water on their Facebook page.

Large parts of Stockport were hit with Bramhall under water for the second time this year. I Love Bramhall posted a series of photos on their site including this one from ‘Amaranth’.
