Two young martial arts aces from the same form at The Manchester Grammar School (MGS) are celebrating after winning a host of medals.

Anton Sodha, 13, from Stalybridge, and Aidan Lam, 13, of Didsbury, practise karate and taekwondo respectively and both put in hugely impressive performances recently to win their medals.

Anton competed at the SKU (Shukokai Karate Union) Championships held in Sheffield where he won two gold medals – one for fighting and one for team fighting – and a bronze for kata.

Aidan bagged himself a bronze competing at the Taekwondo National Championships at the Armitage Centre in Manchester.

Aidan said: “I enjoy martial arts because it provides a challenge and competing is a great opportunity for you to practice what you have learnt against your peers.”
