Millom 5-83 Heaton Moor Colts: Skipper Tenney leads the way with 28 points

Millom v Heaton Moor

Millom 5-83 Heaton Moor Junior Colts

Skipper Nick Tenney returned from the long trip to the Lake District with 28 points as Heaton Moor Junior Colts swept aside the challenge of Millom.

Bob Berry scored four tries of the 13 scored by the visitors, Tenney converting nine of them in extremely breezy conditions

Against the strong breeze, it was the hosts who scored after 45 seconds as a brilliant break caught Heaton Moor off-guard.

But that was to prove a blip as a dominant performance saw three first-half tries from Berry, as well as scores from Tenney, Tom Eaton, Angus Boothroyd, Max Savage and Will Smith to reach half-time with a healthy 50-5 lead.

The second half saw no let-up from Moor, as against an almost gale force breeze, they added a further five tries from Tenney, Berry and Boothroyd again and also one each from Trevor Danson and Stephen Ireland, who added to his tally from last week.

Tenney made light of the conditions, kicking four of his five conversion attempts, finishing with a personal tally of 28 points in a brilliant captain’s display.

Although it proved a very comprehensive victory, the Moor lads stuck to the task in excellent fashion providing a great confidence booster ahead of a tricky fixture away to Blackburn in two weeks.
