Macclesfield Town and Stockport County both face double-headers over the Bank Holiday weekend – and both will be looking to bounce back from weekend defeats.

Cheadle Town, Stockport Town and New Mills are also in action.

Phil Brennan, from The Non League Magazine, looks ahead to the weekend action.

National League Saturday

Macclesfield Town are at home to Lincoln City on Saturday and then travel to Solihull Moors on Monday.

John Askey will be looking for a reaction from his side over the Bank Holiday period following the poor defeat at Sutton last weekend.

The Silkmen will be looking to keep up their good home form with a win against a Lincoln City side that sit above them in the table on goal difference alone.

The Red Imps arrive at The Moss Rose on the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Southport so it will be a tough test.

On Monday Macc travel to Solihull Moors, a side that have settled into life in The National League well after earning promotion last term

Stockport County are at AFC Telford on Saturday and then home to Worcester City on Monday.

The Bank Holiday fixtures could prove to be pivotal in The Hatters season as they go in search of a first win in four games, having suffered two defeats in three.

Jim Gannon was disappointed with several aspects of his team’s performance in the home defeat by Brackley Town last weekend and will expect a big response against a side that have won just once so far this term on Saturday at Telford.

As Worcester have yet to win this season Gannon will surely be looking at a minimum of four points from the two fixtures.

New Mills are at home to West Didsbury & Chorlton on Saturday then at Barnoldswick Town on Monday.

The Millers sit near the top of the table for the first time in a number of years and although West Didsbury & Chorlton and Barnoldswick Town both sit well below his team at present, manager Garry Brown will know that the holiday period can change the table substantially.

Both sides have managed a win each to date and both have conceded so Brown will be looking to his strikers to add to their impressive tally so far whilst keeping it tight at the back.

Cheadle Town host FC Oswestry Town on Saturday.

Last season’s entertainers Cheadle Town are certainly looking to keep their crown, having come back from 3-0 down to claim a draw in their last home game, then performing a brilliant giant-killing act in The FA Cup to win at Northwich Vics.

Terry Hincks’ side claimed their first win of the league campaign with a last-gasp Chris Sherrington goal in midweek to defeat Chadderton in a nine-goal thriller, and that after they had lead 4-2.

Hincks will be looking for more of the same this weekend against one of the league’s new boys Oswestry Town who sit one point above his side in the table.

Stockport Town are also at home on Saturday, hosting Whitchurch Alport.

The Lions returned to winning ways in midweek with a comfortable win over new boys Prestwich Heys thanks to goals from Adam Kay, Adam Latham and Andy Graham.

Having seen his side move into the top half of the table with the win, Calum Sykes’ team sends his side out to take on last season’s whipping boys Whitchurch Alport, a team that have started this campaign well having already won more games in the current campaign than they did in the entire season last time out.
