Stockport’s H1VE fitness studio has announced Olympian and Commonwealth Games hurdles champion Andy Turner as its lead coach.

Due to open on January 6, 2020, H1VE is based at Stockport Sports Village (SSV) in Woodley and will offer classes designed to blend the health, wellbeing and social benefits of group exercise with the advantages of personal training.

Andy, who’s represented Great Britain at two Olympic Games, will head up a team of coaches recruited to lead sessions that combine cardio, functional, strength and conditioning training.

Classes run by Andy and his team will be delivered in a group exercise format yet use high-tech equipment, including integrated MYZONE technology, which allows participants to digitally monitor their workouts, set their own benchmarks and track progress against personal goals.

Ahead of a special open event taking place on January 4 and 5, where Stockport residents can try out this new concept in fitness for free, Andy said: “I’m thrilled to be part of this really exciting venture – it’s totally different to anything I’ve seen before, from the actual facility design to the format and technology used.

“What’s even better from my point of view is that, while we are keeping membership levels deliberately low so that every individual gets more attention, the whole idea is incredibly inclusive.

“Whether you are used to training at an elite level or a complete gym newbie just looking to try something a bit different, the community-focused approach combined with the personalised tracking and coaching, means that everyone can excel and achieve their goals.”

The open weekend will take place between 12pm and 4pm on both days, with taster classes running throughout the special event, at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.

Those attending will also be able to find out more about membership, details of which include:

  • No contract – H1VE will rely entirely on “positive experience and results” to build a regular membership community.
  • Access to studio classes, gyms, and swimming facilities at all Life Leisure’s Stockport-based centres – including Stockport Sports Village (SSV) in Woodley where H1VE is located.

Membership of H1VE will cost £60 per month, offering an affordable boutique experience with so much more.
