The British Racing & Sports Car Club (BRSCC) hosted four-wheeled racing at racing at Oulton Park on Saturday.

Torrential rain during the morning made qualifying treacherous. Fortunately things improved for the afternoon’s racing with sunshine breaking through the occasional showers.

A varied program included TVR Challenge, Irish Global Lights, Volkswagen Gti, Northern Formula Ford and the Welsh Sports & Saloons championships.

The Welsh Sports & Saloon Car series were at Oulton Park for the first time in some years.

A huge grid of 29 cars lined up for the first of two races, Jason Davies putting his Ford Sierra Cosworth on pole position.

At the rolling start Davies took the lead from Dave Harvey in his Stuart Taylor Locosaki but the race was stopped during the first lap due to an incident on The Avenue.

At the restart Davies, once again, took the lead from Harvey, followed by Stephen Hall in his Audi TT and Keith White in his BMW Z4.

This was the order until lap four, White having dropped out giving fourth to Chris Everill in his Ginetta G50. That was to be the order to the flag, Davies dominating to win by nearly ten seconds from Harvey.

Race two started with more problems when the rolling start had to be aborted due to a car stopped on track.

When they finally got under way Harvey took the lead from Hall and Davies, Harvey pulling away as Hall and Davies scrapped for second until lap two when Davies went off the track to rejoin in 13th place.

This left Reuben Taylor in third at the wheel of his Peugeot 206cc. Taylor grabbed second on lap three, by which time a fast recovering Davies had reached ninth place.

Unfortunately his charge was halted when red flags came out on lap four, meaning the result was declared from the end of lap three. This gave Harvey a comfortable win from Taylor, Hall, and Grantly Woodhatch in his VW Corrado.
