Hundreds of people and 182 dogs completed a 3km sponsored dog walk event for St Ann’s Hospice.

Paws Spooktacular took place in Wythenshawe Park and has raised £3,994.30 for the charity so far with sponsorship still coming in.

For the third year, Paws Spooktacular dog walk saw dogs and owners of all shapes and sizes gather with locals and their canine friends to have fun and stay fit whilst raising as much money as they could.

Broadcaster Phil Trow and his dog Vivienne joined dog lovers across Manchester to help the hospice, which needs to raise around £16,000 every day to keep providing its services to local patients.

The Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Carl Austin-Behan, and his two dogs Scrappy and Oleg were also amongst the participants.

Eamonn O’Neal, Chief Executive of St Ann’s Hospice, said: “The day was a huge success and we want to thank all those who took part. Events like the Paws Spooktacular dog walk are a fun way for everyone in the  family, humans and animals,  to come together and support our charity.

“We are very pleased with the fantastic amount of money raised so far which really will make a difference to the local people we support who have cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.”
