Philip Clayton killed in head-on crash

A man who died after a collision in Stockport has been named.

Philip Clayton, 43, died following the crash on the A6 in Hazel Grove at 4pm on Sunday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews attended and found a Mini had collided head-on with a Volvo.

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A man and a woman were also taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Buxton Road was closed but has since re-opened.

PC Phil Turley, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This has been a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of Phillip who has sadly passed away.

“We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information to contact police.”

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police as soon as possible on 0161 856 4745, 101, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
