Play It! Manchester: Retro video game fun

Daley Thompson's Decathlon

Anyone who remembers loading their video games from a tape recorder will love Play It! Manchester.

Back for a second year at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, Play It! is a step back in time for aging gamers.

Stick tennis, original Sonic, the Sega Megadrive, Spectrum ZX81, BBC computers – they are all here.

The only thing missing this year was Manic Miner but new is a virtual reality roller-coaster.

Two personal favourites – The Hobbit on a BBC and Daley Thompson’s Decathlon, where you have to bash hell out of the keyboard to make blurry Daley run, jump and throw.

There are also modern favourites like xBox One games and Minecraft.
