Stockport’s Ben Luxton took a podium in torrential conditions in his ‘home’ race at Oulton Park in Cheshire.
The Hazel Grove racer claimed second place in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship race as Oulton was hit by heavy rain.
The G&S Racing rider had qualified in ninth position for the 12-lap encounter, and immediately stamped his mark on the race, climbing to fourth on the opening lap.
After climbing to third at half distance, Luxton grabbed second with four laps to go and, after a brief scrap with team-mate Milo Ward, went on to claim a comfortable second by a little over five seconds at the flag.
“An amazing weekend down at Oulton Park, my local round,” said Luxton. “G&S racing did a great job of putting a strong bike underneath me for the race, and I was able to bring it home in second place.”
