The Vernon Building Society Poynton Brass Band raised £1,000 at its Night at the Movies concert for Stockport Foodbank.
The show at the Hazel Grove Baptist Church opened with the theme tune to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and rounded off with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Project Manager Nigel Tedford said: “On behalf of everyone at Stockport Foodbank, may I thank everyone who was involved in making this evening such a success.
“Without the band we wouldn’t have had brilliant music to listen to, without our guests the evening wouldn’t have raised such a magnificent amount for the Foodbank and without the support of the Vernon Building society, the evening wouldn’t have happened.”
Stockport Foodbank is based in five locations around Stockport and funding will be used to buy essential food and hygiene items to support those in need during the winter months.
Ian Keeling, Vernon Building Society’s Director of Sales and Marketing, said: “The Night at the Movies concert demonstrated real community spirit as volunteers from the Baptist Church, the Vernon Brass Band and the Vernon Building Society created a special evening of entertainment for what was a significant crowd.
“The event has become an annual fixture which raises much needed funds for a critical local cause.”
