The Railway Club has again honoured the memory of long-standing member Susan Heslop.

A 50-mile bike ride from Chester to the social club’s headquarters in Chester Road, Stretford, and fundraising evening raised £4,800 for St Ann’s Hospice, which cared for Susan who died of cancer in September 2015.

Members have so far donated more than £10,000 to the charity and there are plans for another cycling trip next spring and golf day.

Susan’s husband Tony, their sons Anthony, Martin and Luke, and her brother-in-law Steve were among the 18-strong cycling group.

Susan, who was 59, was manageress at Fledglings Nursery in Stretford for many years.

Organiser Graham Wright, a club member since it opened 22 years ago, said: “Sue was a lovely special lady and the care she received as a patient at St Ann’s in Heald Green was second to none.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their donations and anyone who wants to join our bike ride next year is more than welcome.”
