The Annual Gentleman’s Dinner at Reddish Vale Golf Club was another huge success enjoyed by members and several distinguished guests.

Reddish Vale manager Dave Sanders said: “The dinner had a full attendance and our caterer Gary and his staff looked after us to perfection – we received many plaudits on the food and the hospitality from the guests and a large number of members.

“Our Annual Gentleman’s Dinner is always the first formal function for the new president of the Cheshire Golf Union and Roy Smethurst from Crewe Golf Club, who is a golfing legend in Cheshire, England and Europe, was delighted to attend and receive a great reception and he gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the guests.

“Roy gave us a great account of his fabulous playing record which includes winning virtually every championship in seniors’ amateur golf.”

Guests also included three ex-Cheshire Union presidents in Colin Shadbolt (Bramall Park), John O’Neill (Reddish Vale) and Brian Nattrass (Chester), plus Tony Draper (Chorlton GC), the president of the Society of Manchester Captains.
