It’s December and that can mean only one thing at the Stockport Plaza – it’s panto season!
Former EastEnders star John Altman heads the cast of Peter Pan as ‘Nasty’ Captain Hook, revelling in his lifetime of playing the baddie.
Altman certainly hams it up, with more than the odd nod to his Albert Square past.
The tale is familiar – Peter loses his shadow, makes friends with the Darling children, falls out with Tinkerbell and is continually losing and finding his friends with the help of the Lost Boys – as the show makes its way to the inevitable final battle between Hook and the crocodile.
All the cast look like they are having terrific fun – the jokes may be old and corny but that doesn’t stop the packed house rocking in their seats.
The show is kept moving through it’s scene changes by stand-up routines and audience participation. Corny stuff but great fun.
So, if you want two-and-a-half hours of rip-roaring, thigh-slapping fun this Christmas and New Year, then head for Stockport Plaza.
Peter Pan runs until January 8, 2017, and there are still tickets available – for full details of times and prices, go to The Plaza website.
Merry Christmas from Stockport Plaza
Plaza manager Ted Doan has thanked the public for their ‘amazing support’ during the show’s run.
Ted said: “On behalf of the cast of Peter Pan and all of the magnificent volunteers and staff at The Plaza, we would like to thank you for all the astounding support you have shown us this year and every year since we saved our iconic venue from potential demolition only 15 short years ago.
“As we head into our 85th year serving our community we look forward to welcoming you to our much-loved venue for the very best in live stage, big screen and fine dining events and experiences that will be guaranteed to entertain and delight you all.
“Finally may we wish you all a healthy and happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year.”
