Seashell Trust college students celebrated their graduation with a glamorous prom.

The class of 2017 travelled to their prom at the Hilton Hotel Manchester Airport with style in a variety of luxury vehicles and two quirky tuk tuks.

Students graduate the Seashell Trust-run Royal College Manchester aged around 23 years old and all have complex learning disabilities and communication difficulties.

They celebrated the time they had spent together at the Cheadle Hulme charity with a disco and buffet as well as special certificate presentations by head of College Katherine Corey for each of the departing students.

Lizzie McGahey, Royal College Manchester transitions co-ordinator, said: “The students had an absolutely fantastic time celebrating all of their successes over their time with us at the Seashell Trust and we are delighted with the outcomes for our leavers with many transitioning into supported living and supported employment.

“A special thank you to Lyn Barber, Sabhia Ahmed and Shannen Hussey, who volunteered their time and helped organise the event, as well as Marian Fahy and Katherine Watson for organising the parents and carers meal.

“Huge thank you to Wendy Bray, Terry Bainbridge and all of the staff that supported the young people to the prom and thank you to Going Dutch Florist, The Hilton Hotel and DJ Dan Jarvis, videographer Holly Hartley, BSL interpreter Louise Heywood and photographer Tony Carter.

“Finally, a huge thank you to all of our College leavers for all of their hard work over their time with us at College, we wish them all the best for the future.”

Seashell Trust is grateful to Robert Leggett at Omni Resourcing for use of the two tuk-tuks and Tesla; Bentley Manchester who provided a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley; and Together for sending an Cadillac and a Bentley for the students to arrive at their prom in style.
