Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was among the players at the annual Norton Barrie Golf Day at Northenden Golf Club in south Manchester.
Northenden have been proud hosts for the past eight years and the event organised by club member Blake Norton raised over £10,000 on the day.
This took the total raised since it started to around £62,000 and once more got terrific support from over 40 teams playing in two shotgun starts – one them led by Sir Alex – and it needed 90 points to give Team Eagle Design top spot, ahead of Team Gage on a card play-off.
Blake said: “The charity the day supports is The Christie and is in the memory of my dad Barry who received fantastic care from The Christie for five years before he passed away in 2008.
“I wanted to create something that everyone could remember him by. I personally love my golf and this love came from my dad’s love for golf and the times he took me to Northenden for ‘a knock’.

“When he passed away I felt that a golf day in his memory was the best way to create a lasting legacy as well as continuing to run his successful stores and brand of Norton Barrie and help raise money for the Christie.
“Northenden pulled out all the stops to make sure that the brand new clubhouse was open on the day and I can’t thank them enough for their efforts and support.
“Also thanks for the fantastic support of all of the players, the helpers who make it run so smoothly and the businesses who have contributed to the event to make this such a special day.”
