Sky high Michelin-Star dining from Manchester Airport

American Airlines Michelin-Star dining

Passengers travelling between Manchester (MAN) and the USA will be getting Michelin-Star dining aboard American Airlines flights to and from Chicago (ORD), Philadelphia (PHL) and New York (JFK).

The airline has partnered with esteemed chefs and restaurateurs, Michelin-Star rated Mark Sargeant, and Maneet Chauhan, to elevate the onboard dining experience for customers.

British Michelin-Star chef, Mark Sargeant has created a Business Class menu inspired by his three UK restaurants, served at 35,000 feet.

American’s service from Manchester to the United States will feature new salads and appetizers personally designed by Mark, including a fresh and fragrant ‘gem wedge salad, with roasted squash, dried cranberries and a black sesame and tahini dressing’. Mark has also enhanced the cheese plate by hand-selecting British cheeses, including Red Leicester.

Business Class customers returning direct from Manchester to the U.S. can also look forward to Maneet Chauhan’s globally-inspired three course à la carte menu. Appetizers include ‘melon manchego carpaccio with lime’ and ‘kalette and saffron orzo salad’.

Mark (pictured left) said it had been an honour to be asked to create a menu for the world’s largest airline: “American has taken a leap to do something different and exciting, and my team and I have been very involved at every stage of the process. Together we have designed creative choices that are delicious and appealing to the eye, using great quality ingredients to get the palette watering at altitude.”

Fernand Fernandez, vice president of global marketing, American Airlines said: “We’re very excited to be bringing Mark and Maneet onboard.

“These new dishes use fresh ingredients and innovative flavour combinations to create  delicious modern menus for our transatlantic customers. We’re continuing to invest in our products, fleet and services, and partnering with some of the world’s finest chefs is just one way we’re enhancing the experience for our customers.”

Ramsay’s Michelin-Star chef

Mark was awarded his first Michelin-Star in 2002 as Head Chef at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s. Mark stepped aside from the kitchen and flourished as a restaurateur; he currently owns three restaurants, Rocksalt and The Smokehouse in the coastal town of Folkestone, and The Duke William in Ickham. He also serves as Chef Director for the Great Northern Hotel’s Plum + Spilt Milk in London.

Maneet, who is best known for her role as a resident judge on the Emmy-nominated television show ‘Chopped’, has enjoyed an illustrious career working in the finest hotels and restaurants in India and the U.S.

Maneet was born and raised in India’s Punjab province, before moving to New York to attend the Culinary Institute of America. Infusing Western and Asian culinary disciplines, Maneet became the Executive Chef of Vermillion in Chicago and New York at a remarkably young age. From there, Maneet gained widespread acclaim and went on to author her own cookbook ‘Flavors of my World’ and to introduce her own successful spice range. Maneet is currently Executive Chef of Chauhan Ale & Masala House, in Nashville, Tennessee.

American Airlines is in the midst of more than $3 billion in planned improvements to give customers a superior travel experience worldwide. These investments include fully lie-flat seats; international Wi-Fi; more in-flight entertainment options and power outlets; a new, modern design for lounges worldwide including in New York (JFK), Chicago (ORD) and Philadelphia (PHL).
