A leading gynaecology nurse at Stepping Hill Hospital is up for an award as one of the most inspiring women in the north west.
Gill Clarke has been shortlisted in the public sector category at this year’s Inspiring Women Awards for leading and transforming gynaecology services.
In the past 15 years, Gill has introduced new services and improved choice and treatment for thousands of patients every year.
She has driven down waiting times, ensured continuity of care and enhanced privacy and dignity.
As well as transforming services at Stepping Hill Hospital, Gill has also introduced new services within the local community.
This includes the first community outpatient gynaecological clinic in Stockport, so women can see a consultant and specialist trained gynaecological nurse closer to home.
Gill’s achievements were recognised nationally when she received an OBE in 2014.
Over the last year Gill has started a new outpatient procedure known as ‘Myosure’ which removes fibroids in the uterus which cause heavy bleeding and painful periods.
