Stockport’s Merseybay beach is in full swing for the summer in the town centre.
Families are invited to play in the sand at Merseybay – a free 6mx4m undercover beach filled with golden sand, deckchairs to sit back and relax in, a beach hut and buckets and spades to build sandcastles.
Located outside Thorntons, the beach will be open to children aged 10 and under from 11am-4pm every day until Saturday, September 3.
Parents can also be in with a chance of winning a £1,000 voucher towards their next dream holiday by simply filling out a Merseybay postcard.
Merseyway will also be hosting a best sandcastle competition where children can win a bucket load of this summer’s most popular toys by uploading a photo of their sandcastle to the Merseyway Facebook page.
Councillor Kate Butler, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Economy & Regeneration, said: “It’s very exciting that the seaside is in Stockport this year.
“I would encourage residents to bring their beach chairs, buckets and spades and enjoy the summer in the Merseybay beach.
“There are also plenty of other events taking place in the town centre during summer to cater for all ages and interests, so keep an eye out for upcoming activities.”
On Saturday, August 20, and Saturday, August27, Waterstones will be hosting Storytelling in the Sand – a free session from 1.30pm where families can sit back and enjoy a reading of a popular children’s book, free of charge.
