Summer events raise £8,500 for hospice

Heald Green summer fair

St Ann’s Hospice is celebrating raising more than £8,500 at a series of summer fundraising events.

The annual summer fairs in Little Hulton, Salford, and Heald Green, Stockport, and a special summer afternoon tea event at the hospice’s Neil Cliffe Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital raised the money for local patients, thanks to the generous support of people from across Greater Manchester.

Anne-Marie Wynne, Head of Fundraising at St Ann’s, said: “We’re really proud to have been a part of our local communities for almost half a century, and it’s amazing that people from right across Greater Manchester support the hospice so generously.

“We were thrilled to see so many people at the recent events, and it was brilliant to have the support of so many local volunteers who made it all possible too.

“We need to fundraise around £20,000 every day to carry on providing our care, which is obviously difficult, but thanks to our amazing supporters we are able to continue providing our care free of charge to local patients with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.”

In addition to the hospice’s three sites in Heald Green, Little Hulton and the Neil Cliffe Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital, St Ann’s also cares for local people via a range of community and outreach services.

It is one of the oldest hospices outside of London, having been supporting local patients for almost 50 years.
