Bennetts British Superbike rider Christian Iddon claimed a brace of top-10 finishes on his return from breaking bones in his hand.

The TYCO BMW racer claimed ninth and eighth places respectively in the two outings at Snetterton in Norfolk over the weekend.

It was a steady return to the saddle for Stockport’s Iddon, who missed out on Q3 and started the first of two races from 14th.

Quick thinking left him upright and able to continue when an accident at the Montreal corner on the opening lap saw him caught up in the melee, the race neutralised temporarily by a safety-car period.

Then, with the bit between his teeth, the former Super Moto champion climbed steadily, claiming ninth at the flag.

Lining up 12th in race two, Iddon was on the move quickly, grabbing 10th on lap two and by lap six he was eighth.

He dropped briefly back to 11th but crossed the line in eighth spot after gaining a place on the final lap of 16.

“I struggled a little during practice,” said Iddon. “It’s been a long break since Oulton Park; however, by qualifying I felt good on the bike.

“Race one was a little disappointing as I got caught up in an incident, but I managed to stay on and bring her home in ninth.

“Race two was completely different. We made some small changes and I felt really good on the bike.

“An unfortunate mid-race error hindered our chances, but I certainly had the pace for fourth place.”
