The annual Vernon Building Society Community Awards is open for applications to not-for-profit groups in Stockport.

In the past seven years the awards have seen more than £70,000 donated to worthy causes in the area.

Previous winners include the Stockport County Community Foundation, Beechwood Cancer Care Centre and Millie’s Trust.

This year the Vernon is again offering £10,000 share between not-for-profit organisations dedicated to supporting the Stockport community.

Applications opened this week and will run until August 17.

Once applications have been received, 14 organisations will be shortlisted with finalists then awarded a minimum of £250 up to a maximum of £1,500.

Stockport County Community Foundation’s Adrian Rigby-Bates said: “As a charity, we were delighted to have been chosen as one of the 14 finalists taking place in the voting for the 2018 Community Awards.

“It has not only helped to raise invaluable funds for our Mental Health Football and Multi-sport Project but also helped build awareness about the good work that we do.”

How to get involved

Applications supporting individuals or individual sponsorships, political activities, promotion of religious causes, activities that benefit animals or commercial enterprises won’t be considered.
