War of the Roses at Chorlton

Chorlton Golf Club professional Dave Mackinnon was a fine player and a stalwart for Lancashire golf in his amateur days with the highlights being matches against their Yorkshire counterparts.

Now Dave has his own ‘Battle of the Roses’ every working day at Chorlton Golf Club with his two assistant professionals – Adam Hodkinson and Will Hawksworth – who have White Roses deep in their veins.

Both have played for Yorkshire and Adam went on to play for England before turning professional and is nearing the end of his PGA course in his third enjoyable year at Chorlton

He has had plenty of success in the North West in PGA and Manchester Alliance competitions and is also a keen and very fast cyclist.

Will has just started his professional career working with Dave and is looking to start his PGA course later in the year.

Dave said: “Adam is a hard-working professional and still has aspirations of playing on the European Tour and I think that he has every chance in doing this with a bit of luck.

“Will also comes from a strong golfing background having played for Yorkshire and his dad is former European Tour player and Sky Golf presenter John Hawksworth and I think that he will be a great asset to Chorlton.

“I am very pleased to have such a strong team working alongside me and they are very aware that the Red Rose rules at Chorlton.”
