Work starts at Stockport’s Aurora business park

Work has begun on Stockport’s newest industrial park, Aurora Business Park, at a ground breaking ceremony.

Councillor Kate Butler attended from Stockport Council along with representatives from Seddon Construction and CBRE.

The ceremony marked the official start of work transforming the 18 acre site into a modern 145,000 sq ft industrial park.

Sitting alongside Junction 1 of the M60, Aurora Business Park in Stockport will breathe new life into an area that has sat derelict over recent years, redeveloping the area and creating new opportunities for local businesses and an estimated 240 jobs locally.

Part of Stockport’s £1 billion Investing in Growth work, Aurora Stockport is being developed by the Council in partnership with Carillion and CBRE. The £12m development comes at a time when demand for industrial units locally continues to increase due to the town’s exceptional workforce and connectivity.

Leading contractor, Seddon Construction has begun work and will be managing the site’s transformation over the next 12 months.

Interest from local occupiers in Aurora Stockport is already high. Comprising 10 industrial units ranging from 8,700 sq ft to 47,000 sq ft the park’s location and facilities make it ideal for any business looking to grow or for their next home.

Councillor Kate Butler, Executive Member for Regeneration and Economy at Stockport Council said: “I am delighted to have been part of the ground breaking at Aurora Stockport celebrating the start of work. The opportunities that this development and transformation will bring are significant, not only for businesses but also for local residents, and I am excited to think about how our work will benefit so many.”

Ed Wootton, North West Regional Director for Seddon, said “Stockport is in the midst of an exciting period of growth and Seddon are thrilled to be a part of it. We will be working closely with our local supply chain partners to create jobs and training opportunities during the project, building on our long established approach to employing apprentices.”

CBRE have been appointed as sole agents for Aurora Business Park and Steve Capper of CBRE commented that “The strength of Stockport’s industrial market has been clearly demonstrated by the high levels of demand that we are already receiving, with terms now being discussed with several occupiers. Together with the excellent quality of the estate and the prime location I would fully expect this interest to increase as the works progress.”
