Wythenshawe Town took advantage of Knutsford and Whaley Bridge not playing to move joint top of the Hallmark Security Cheshire Football League.

A Douglas Carroll brace was enough to come back from a goal down to take all three points following their 2-1 victory away at Greenalls Padgate St Oswald’s.

Altrincham Reserves won 4-2 away at Crewe to  keep themselves in the title challenge, two points below Wythenshawe and Knutsford and eight points behind Whaley Bridge at the top.

Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads move up to fifth following their dominant display at home to Eagle Sports, winning 4-0 at The Heath with goals from Dean McGregor, Phillip Yuille and a Joe Campbell brace.

Both sides bottom of the table – Styal and Garswood United – won at the weekend in strong fashion.

Styal got revenge over Rylands, who had beaten them by 10-0 a few weeks back, and Garswood defeated Malpas.

The Wilmslow locals beat Rylands 3-0 through goals from Tom Pryce and Alex Wheelan (2).

In Division One, it was Warrington Town Reserves who finished the week in top spot after they defeated bottom side, Grappenhall Sports, 6-1.

Goals from Rhys Bowers, Dylan Glass, John Edge and a John Humphreys hat-trick gave the Yellows the victory as they move into joint first with Pilkington.

Pilkington beat Cheadle Town Reserves 3-1 at Ruskin Drive to move up to 46 points, but with inferior goal difference to Warrington Reserves.

AFC Macclesfield move upto fourth following their win at Stockport Sports Village against Daten.

Macc won 4-2 at home as Daten finished the game with nine men after two red cards, one for Kyle Gallagher and the other for substitute Jon Priest.

FC St Helens dropped points away at Egerton as they drew 2-2. Goals from Paul Sweeney and Liam Houghton weren’t enough for St Helens to win the game.

In Reserve Division One, Greenalls Padgate St Oswald’s beat Poynton to move within two points of the league leaders, Eagle Sports, and in Reserve Division Two, Middlewich Town and FC St Helens drew 1-1 as St Helens move to the top of the league.

This week also saw the first week of the President’s Cup group stage. Daten Reserves beat Malpas Reserves 11-0 to move top of their group with goals from Brown, Bell, Dixon (2), Nutkins, Stewart (5) and Wolfenholme.

Tarporley Vics beat Eagle Sports Reserves 5-0, Golborne Sports Reserves lost 4-3 in a closely fought game at home to Mersey Valley. Unicorn Athletic defeated Rylands Reserves 2-1 and Sandbach United Reserves won 2-0 away at Pilkington Reserves.
