Age UK Manchester has been crowned the winner of a region-wide competition to receive a canteen kit-out as part of Holland’s Pies’ Hunger Busters campaign.

Age UK Manchester delivers services from its Crossacres Community Resource Centre in Wythenshawe, including day car, home care, clubs and a community cafe.

The charity was shortlisted alongside three other groups in a public vote. Age UK Manchester’s entry showcased its work to provide support for the elderly.

Kim Hyde, a volunteer at Age UK Manchester, said: “We’re delighted that so many people voted for us – it was a privilege to have been shortlisted, particularly alongside so many other worthy causes.

“We can’t wait to receive our new canteen kit out and the delicious slices which our service users will enjoy hugely. Thank you.”

Age UK Manchester will now receive a new fridge, microwave and a stash of Holland’s products after receiving over 500 votes through the company’s Facebook page.

Leanne Holcroft, brand manager at Holland’s Pies, said: “We’re thrilled to be giving this prize to such a worthy cause – the number of votes Age UK Manchester received through our Facebook page is just testament to the fantastic work that they do in their community and how deserving they are.”
